Boston Ujima Project Inc. is excited to welcome SIDE Presents to the Ujima Good Business Alliance (UGBA). Founded in 2019 by two young creatives, SIDE Presents (SIDE) is a production company dedicated to organizing events that celebrate Black culture, art, and community. Its mission is to empower individuals to embrace their creative "side" through thoughtfully curated events that foster safe spaces for showcasing talent, sharing ideas, and building connections. As artists, the founders are passionate about providing a platform for others to express their unique experiences and creativity. SIDE Presents states, “our goal is to create a community where individuals feel safe to allow their true selves to shine.”
SIDE Presents and DVM Housing are working to open a creative space in Mattapan called SIDEWLK. Born from SIDE Presents’ mission to empower creativity, SIDEWLK will be a space where ideas thrive, art uplifts, and community comes alive. It’s where local talent transforms into global impact and where neighbors become collaborators in building something bigger than themselves. SIDEWLK will serve as a permanent support space where underrepresented voices find solitude and solace in expressing their art and creativity. Learn more here.
In December 2024, our Community Standards Committee joyously extended an invitation to SIDE Presents to join the UGBA, which they graciously accepted. The Community Standards Committee was excited by their outstanding good business practices, including:
Civic Engagement: SIDE promotes worker voting and civic engagement. They encourage everyone involved with their organization to participate in elections by offering flexible hours on voting days and sharing information on voter registration and local civic events. They also host discussions and workshops to educate their community on important issues. By fostering an environment that values civic responsibility, they empower everyone to make informed decisions and contribute to their communities.
Product or Service Mission: SIDE has community and social goals. At SIDE, they're all about creating a holistic, inclusive space that uplifts Black and Latinx/BIPOC creativity. They want everyone to feel free to explore, express, and embrace their artistic sides through their events, workshops, and community projects. Their goal is promoting diversity, fostering a real sense of belonging, and giving underrepresented voices the spotlight they deserve. They also partner with small, underrepresented businesses and artists to execute all their events, giving them a platform to showcase their work and art. They are here to make a positive impact, uplift their community, and add some serious flavor to the cultural scene.
Consumer Feedback Channels: SIDE loves hearing from their community, they regularly drop surveys, host feedback sessions after events, and keep open channels for everyone to share their thoughts and ideas. By inviting and really listening to their customer feedback, they make sure their events and initiatives are always on point and resonate with their clients/customers.
Join us in welcoming Side Presents to the UGBA!
